Angelina Jolie is looking as fierce and fabulous as ever on the August cover of Vanity Fair. There is a rare in depth interview, where she admits that retiring from acting maybe just around the corner for her as having her children and her family have made her realize that acting is "not the most important thing in my life." We'll see.

John Paul Gaultier has teamed with high end Italian lingerie house La Perla for an upcoming collection. The line includes a toned-down cone bra and panty set and will be available at select La Perla boutiques, department stores and Gaultier boutiques. “Lingerie is part of my DNA and of my heritage,” Gaultier said. “In my latest prêt-à-porter collection I revisited the conical bras and corsets worn as outerwear. This collaboration was a natural and logical step, especially since La Perla is the pearl of the lingerie, with the best savoir faire.”

After seeing the preview for the Italian film "I am love", starring the fabulous Tilda Swinton, I was captivated by its lusciousness and style. Shortly after I stumbled across Vogue's article on the film's fashion, as Swinton's wardrobe was made by Raf Simons for Jil Sander. Between that and the wonderful reviews, we can't wait!
Skin-and-bones models are normally gross, but there's something amazingly weird & wonderful about this pinup calendar from Eizo. The X-Ray company decided to promote their latest see-through technology with a pinup calendar... entirely done in X-Ray vision. The result is a spooky and hysterical set of images that leave nothing (and everything) to the imagination. See them all here.

One year ago Friday the death of Michael Jackson sent the media into a frenzy. Fans worldwide mourned for days and his family demanded answers. But today we mostly remember the music, that will continue to live on forever. Visit Rolling Stone Magazine for an indepth look at Michael and his legacy.
The new ads for Louis Vuitton's fall collection have been released and they are lovely (but then again, so are all their ad campaigns)! Like the runway show, the ads feature models Christy Turlington, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova representing women of different ages (one model in her 20s, one her 30s, one her 40s), all equally fabulous and one of the most sophisticated Vuitton fashion campaigns to date. This is the fourth Vuitton campaign shot by Steven Meisel, who constructed the period set in a New York studio.

Here is the Rolling Stone cover everyone is talking about this week. Lady Gaga bares her heart in an extensive interview about the breakup that inspired her transformation from Germanotta to Gaga, her complex relationship with her beloved father and the music on her next album, Lady Gaga tells contributing editor Neil Strauss art is life and not being fierce isn't an option: "When I wake up in the morning, I feel just like any other insecure 24-year-old girl," she says. "Then I say, 'Bitch, you're Lady Gaga, you get up and walk the walk today.' "

Venus Williams has revealed her bid for a sixth Wimbledon singles' title is being (fashionably) inspired by pop star Tina Turner, as she appeared in a shimmy dress. Venus raised more than a few eyebrows at the French Open last month when she played in a black corset-style dress and flesh-colored underwear, but toned it down for this occasion. "I love Tina Turner. Obviously, she's just an amazing, amazing artist, just a survivor."

Who knew models could be funny when they want to? Using the World Cup as a theme, V magazine's latest issue, models including Alessandra Ambrosio, Dree Hemingway, Constance Jablonski and Maryna Linchuk put on some fake tans and tight clothes to make fun of the Victoria Beckhams of the world aka 'WAGs' (Wives And Girlfriends).

The recently launched Sloane Magazine has just released its summer issue, which includes my latest article on P.38 "The Art of Falling Apart". No one said the truth to attaining beauty would actually be pretty, but it sure is funny!

Designer Resort 2011 collections have been steadily released over the last few weeks and the reviews have been what they usually are for these pieces: average. Acting as a teaser before the actual Spring collections, the lines never quite satisfy but visit Style.com to view the collections and judge for yourself.

The iconic pink dress Marilyn Monroe wore in 1953's "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" went up for auction recently, and though they estimated the dress would bring in around $200,000, it sold for much more. In fact, the size 14 dress sold for over $260,000!! Other Hollywood memorabilia sold were the scissor gloves Johnny Depp wore in Edward Scissor Hands, Mary Poppins' carpet bag and the Wicked Witch of the West's hat.
Last night's Tony Awards saw winners out of "Red", "Memphis", "Fences", "Le Cage" and "Fela". But it was unusually lit up with Film stars from Scarlett Johansson to Denzel Washington to Catherine Zeta-Jones - all winners last night. Even the cast of Glee performed! See a list of winners here or more red carpet photos here.

This is starting to get out of hand! If you want to fashion-up your Ipad, you can now either get a Louis Vuitton or Gucci carrying case AND rock a custom made suit. LV's case will not be available until 2011. Sorry fashionable tech nerds! (And by 'Fashionable Tech Nerds' I mean me.), but Gucci's black leather and neoprene rubber editions will be ready on June 15. And the suit? Mohan Custom Tailors here in NY are making suits with an oversized jacket pocket to carry an iPad. Fancy!

The McQueen label thinks Cadbury's ad for its Flake bar, in which a woman floats in a yellow dress, is suspiciously similar to the Kate Moss hologram projected at its fashion show in 2006, when the model was mired in a drug scandal. The director of the Flake ad also did the Moss hologram. Cadbury said they weren't intending to copy the hologram, "but the director has a particular house style." Is all this trouble worth it for Cadbury?
South Africa pulled out all the stops for their FIFA 2010 World Cup kickoff concert, before the first game of the biggest sports competition in the world. Artists from around the world performed for thousands in a celebration of soccer, and it got a fashionable start when Shakira took the stage wearing an outfit designed by Roberto Cavalli.

We were reminded this morning by a crush of our theatrical friends, that today would have been the birthday of legend Judy Garland. We never could resist a fashionable diva, especially one so many have tried to duplicate but never could, so Happy Birthday Judy! May you be singing showtunes wherever you are.
Scarlett Johansson does her best Marilyn Monroe impression in the new Dolce & Gabbana makeup ads. Not bad!

The New York Times recently filmed an exposé on where all of Brazil's top models come from and how they get discovered. Interesting!
Princess Diana may be gone, but she’s certainly not forgotten. The daring black taffeta gown that she wore for her first public appearance as Prince Charles fiancée, fetched a whopping £192,000 (about $276,621) at Kerry Taylor Auctions in London yesterday. Bought by Chilean fashion museum Fundación Museo De La Moda, the dress–designed by Elizabeth Emanuel and David Emanuel–was sold along with an original copy of the invoice, fashion sketches, and photographs of Di wearing it.

Because the music AND fashion world wait with bated breath everytime she does a video, here is the premiere of Lady Gaga's "Alejandro". Discuss amongst yourselves.
Though it is two days past, we thought we had to tip our hat to the lovely Sandra Bullock, who showed up to the MTV Movie Awards Sunday looking better than ever (take that, JJ!). Her hot dress was designed by Oday Chakar with a plunging back, which prompted Betty White to tell her "Don't ever wear that dress backwards!" Scarlett Johansson also looked fabulous in a lacy green Dolce & Gabbana dress. See more here!

Vivienne Westwood is selling (expensive) tablecloths featuring 20 of her designs printed on 100% recycled Polyester in an effort to raise money for the charity Cool Earth. Vivienne said of the charity: "The greatest thing about Cool Earth is that its activities are focused on the main problem, deforestation. The money they spend has maximum effect, working alongside indigenous people, putting mechanisms in place to save the planet."
It has been a while since we have posted anything for Music Mondays, so today is a friendly reminder of NPR's fantastic Tiny Desk Concert series. We were blown away by Raphael Saadiq's unplugged performance, and now it it Phoenix's turn. Have a listen!

Let's face it, French women have a certain je ne sais quois. And so Vanity Fair Magazine produced a Top 10 list of the Most Stunning French Actresses. "In the movies at least, French women tend to both say less and wear less than their American counterparts. They walk alone in Paris streets like Jeanne Moreau, or along deserted beaches like Brigitte Bardot. They’re more often temptresses than girls next door. Jean-Luc Godard said that all one needs to make a film is a gun and a girl. But with the 10 actresses listed here, no need for a gun—they’re fatale enough on their own." See the full list here.

The ladies of Twilight have taken over the cover of July's Vanity Fair as Norman Jean Roy photographed the spooky beauties of the Saga's five vampires (Dakota Fanning, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, Elizabeth Reaser, Bryce Dallas Howard) and one lone lady werewolf (Julia Jones).
Karl Lagerfeld was awarded France's Legion of Honor at the Elysee palace on Thursday, and was treated to a surprise garden party by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni. As part of the honor Lagerfeld was given a one-of-a-kind creation made to order by the French Mint and Chanel’s high jewelry workshops as a surprise. "I am much better at making small talk than at giving speeches If it wasn’t for 99 percent of the people in this room, it would all amount to nothing. So in fact, this is for me but it is also for all of you."

With the passing of Dennis Hopper last week, we were reminded of his substantial contributions to film — as an actor or director in films like Rebel Without A Cause, Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now and Hoosiers. But he was also a successful painter, a sculptor and, through it all, a photographer. A new book & exhibit entitled "Dennis Hopper: Photographs 1961-1967" showcases Hopper's talent in taking portraits, mostly of his celebrity friends like Paul Newman and Andy Warhol, but also includes photos from all over the U.S. — snapshots of everyday people and life. See them here.

British designer Katharine Hamnett has just launched her eco-friendly swimwear "Save the Sea" collection exclusively for yoox.com. The capsule collection is made up of 14 exclusive pieces featuring the slogan “SAVE THE SEA”: one-piece swimsuits and bikinis for her as well as swimwear for him, beach towels and handmade, fabric tote bags. The style of the collection is inspired by the chic icons and divas of the ‘50s and ‘60s: the one-piece Marlene Dietrich swimsuit, the polka-dot Ursula Andress bikini, the Rita Hayworth short jumpsuit, the Ernest Hemingway shorts. Katharine became famous in the 1980s for having launched positive environmental messages, for taking action in combating climate change and problems of pollution. Wearing “out loud” the slogan “SAVE THE SEA” is a way to launch a clear message with regards to the seas and oceans, which are currently at risk thanks to over-fishing, pollution, and bad habits. “I called this collection SAVE THE SEA, as the sea we all love is dying. It’s important as consumers and people with the right to vote to be aware of the facts so we can do whatever is possible to save it.”

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Roberto Cavalli's label and to celebrate the milestone, he sat down with Harper's Bazaar to dish on all things fashion. Here's what Roberto had to say on the provenance of his trademark leopard print: "God created such a fantastic world. Leopard is an animal design, and my designs come from nature." On what he loves about women: "Their eyes. A woman can drive me crazy with her eyes. And when they don’t pay attention to me, they drive me crazy too. I am a completely typical man."
