Fashion: Tennis Style

With the French Open currently underway, tennis star Venus Williams continues to raise a lot of eyebrow raises when it comes to her fashion on the court. In a recent interview, V dished on the how the outfits for her line EleVen come about. "During the design process I'm nervous about, okay, is that going to move and get in the way of my racquet? So when the dress comes and it doesn't, then I'm excited. I try to represent what I think my personality is on the court. The second part is sometimes you just dream it up. Sometimes you can see a dress and say, Hey, I really like those slits, so let me put that in my tennis dress. Or I'm dying to do lace. How can we do that on the court and make it work?" She even touched on that risqué outfit that caused a commotion off the court during the French Open: "Lace has never been done before in tennis, and I've been wanting to do it for a long time. So finally, you know, I've done lace. It's fun to wear, obviously. For me, it's fun to design something that seems to be so successful."

Now that Tyra Banks has re-signed with her modeling agency, what better way to celebrate than with a photo shoot paying homage to Alexander McQueen? Said Banks: "McQueen was considered royalty in the fashion community. I feel like a queen whenever I wear his clothes (especially the stunning blue dress I wore for this shoot)! I hope that you like the royal tribute that André and I (and lil' Gianni too!) put together for him! It’s old royal fashion meets new royal looks designed by fashion royalty. Film/Art: Banksy's "Exit Through the Gift Shop"

If you are already a fan of the artist known as Banksy, then you have no doubt heard of his new film "Exit Through the Gift Shop". But the question remains: Is it real? The film itself was a sensation at the Sundance Film Festival this year, and at the Berlin International Film Festival in February, he called a news conference, only to cancel it at the last minute and show a video, in which he appears in shadows (true to form), cloaked in a hoodie and with his voice disguised, as he does in the film, to vouch for its veracity. The thing is, both Banksy and Mr. Guetta (the lead subject) are pretty unreliable narrators, and the immediate thought was that Mr. Guetta either didn’t exist at all, that he was in cahoots with Banksy or that he was Banksy himself. Even aficionados of the scene were unsure what to think. As one street-art-enthusiast observer noted: “It is one of these cases where Banksy has found in his art that truth is stranger than the best fiction you can imagine.”
