Fashion: Italy vs mini skirts
Luigi Bobbio, the mayor of the Italian town Castellammare di Stabia located just south of Naples, is being called a "chauvinist" for a ruling approved by the town council this week that bans skirts that are too short and tops that are too low-cut. Police in the town can now fine offenders €300 for violating the new dress code. But this does not necessarily give officers a legal right to ogle women at length: Bobbio said he had faith in officers to make snap decisions. "They won't need to carry out checks up close," he told Corriere del Mezzogiorno. "One glance will be enough to judge." Um, right. Good luck with that.
