NY Fashion Week kicked off today with Fall 2010 collections from Mackage, BCBG Max Azria, Richard Chai, LAMB, Vena Cava and Ports 1961. The first day is always a little chaotic but full of the best people-watching, as some fashionistas really rise to the occasion, especially when trudging through the mounds of melting snow outside the tents! There was the crush of attendees waiting in line for their seats, colorful advertisements on display in the lobby, the clever American Express Twitter wall scrolling updates from fashion types, including reactions to the death of Alexander McQueen, and of course, the collections themselves (I especially liked the showings from Canadian design house Mackage, as well as Ports 1961, photographed above).
